A small update on whats going on in Egypt

4:20 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011- by L.S. Carbonell
During a telephone conversation with Cairo resident Ahmed Ramez, MSNBC was informed that the Cairo police opened the doors of their jails and prisons, releasing criminals onto the streets.  The police have allegedly taken the attitude that if the protesters want to be disorderly, they should be taught what real disorder is.  Mr. Ramez and friends are guarding their homes with weapons he stressed they have licenses to own.  Demonstrators have set up security checkpoints to block traffic to the luxury homes and shops in the suburbs to reduce the looting.  During the night, a small group of men managed to break into the Egyptian Museum, destroy a couple of mummies and loot the ticket office before being driven away by demonstrators.   They were unable to reach the most valuable artifacts.
Israel has called out its reserve forces and evacuated its civilians from Egypt.
The death toll is now at 68.
The Egyptian military is placing itself between the protesters and the police in an apparent attempt to prevent further bloodshed and keep the police from being attacked. (article from http://lezgetreal.com )

Friends Left To Bury Kato After Fight Breaks Out At His Funeral

01/28/11-by Bridgette P. LaVictoire
The Advocate is reporting that a local pastor who attended the funeral for David Kato caused a fight to break out after he grabbed the microphone in the middle of the ceremony in order to decry homosexuality. The end result appears to have been that the villagers refused to bury Kato’s body. In the end, his friends buried his remains.
Kato was bludgeoned to death with a hammer. Last October, he was one of the people who was outed in picture by the local newspaper Rolling Stone, which also called for the deaths of the individuals that they outed.
The pastor is reported to have said “The world has gone crazy. People are turning away from the scriptures. They should turn back, they should abandon what they are doing. You cannot start admiring a fellow man.”
The advocate reports:
As he screamed, “It is ungodly,” gay activists stormed the pulpit and grabbed the mic. They were wearing T-shirts featuring Kato’s face with sleeves with gay pride colors.
“Who are you to judge others?” a female activist yelled. “We have not come to fight. You are not
Kato was the advocacy officer for Sexual Minorities Uganda or SMUG.
Scholars who are not invested in maintaining the absolutes of non-Biblical traditions have pointed out that the Bible has no actual admonitions against homosexuality. In fact, the Bible appears to have no real strong statements about anything other than what could be construed as anal intercourse. Many early cultures did not ban what is now considered homosexuality, but did ban anal intercourse due to hygienic reasons.
President Barack Obama has condemned the murder and called for the Ugandan government to ensure that his murderer or murderers are brought to justice. (article from http://lezgetreal.com)

on the Rhode to equality

"Rhode Island is looking to become the next battleground for same-sex marriage.
Last week, bills were introduced in the Rhode Island House and Senate that call for legalizing “civil marriage” between people of the same gender.
Just two days prior, Rhode Island’s newly elected Governor Lincoln Chafee said in his inaugural address that the states  legislators needed to expeditiously legalize same-sex marriage, adding that Rhode Island needed to “catch up to her New England neighbors.’’
Chafee, a former Republican U.S. senator who became an independent in 2007, has been a longtime supporter of marriage equality.
Now, The National Organization for Marriage will be targeting Rhode Island voters with a new $100,000 advertising campaign, aimed at circumventing statutory efforts to legalize same-sex marriage in that state and appears to attack Chafee’s legitimacy as Governor" (in other words the National Organization for Marriage will try to keep her from legalizing same-sex marriage in Rhode Island).

Marylin Manson \m/

I know that this blog is meant to inform people on LGBT issues and on occasion some nice pics but im going to go off topic here a bit to recommend a great artist, and my idol, Marilyn Manson.

To listen to Marilyn Mansons most famous song (the beautiful people), you can look at the video below, and the video below that one is of my personal favorite of Marilyn (Personal Jesus [cover]). Also at the very bottom of this post is an interview of Marilyn Manson by Rolling Stones which i personally found very interesting so i dont know if u guys care about metal or music in general but i just wanted to share this (marilyn manson music videos are not for the weak though i advise you look at the whole video instead of just the first few seconds of it) :P

email option

Many of you requested for their to be an 'email post' option so that you guys can send all those lovely pictures of cute boys via email to your friends and stuff so i recently enabled the option and now you guys can send all the posts on this blog to whoever you want :)

First Date?

Ah yes, first dates. Some of us had it already others haven't. My first date was actually kinda lame because it was with a girl who i didn't have feelings for, and she was really shy so we spent an hour in an awkward moment just siting there eating and not saying a word :P so i guess if you are going to go on your first date, make sure you like that person and at least make an effort on having fun. If you have already had your first date i would be delighted if you submit your story of that first date as a comment to this post. Thank you :D

Scandinavians get original =D

"SAS Scandinavian airlines host the worlds first in-flight gay marriages! The mile-high club got redefined yesterday as two couples, one gay and one lesbian, became the first same-sex couples to get married on board an airplane. This spectacle was organized by SAS Scandinavian Airlines, which hosted a wildly successful social media campaign, Love is in the Air, to marry the world’s first same-sex couple on its plane.
The two winners of the competition, German couple Aleksandar Mijatovic and Shantu Bhattache, and Polish couple Ewa Tomaszewicz and Gosia Rawińska, received the most votes in the campaign and became the ones to create history, as they celebrated their unions on aboard flight SK903 flying from Stockholm to New York.
Besides being a unique way of celebrating their unions, both couples also saw their ‘mile-high marriages’ as an opportunity to fight for gay rights in their countries. Aleksandar said, “We saw this as a great opportunity to spread the word about gay marriage. In Germany where we come from, there’s no gay marriages. It’s only registered partnerships. It’s not really equal. So we thought we’d inspire gay people back home to get married. Or even better, we could inspire people to fight, to get on the streets, fight for their rights and change the law.”
Aleksandar and Shantu had been planning to get married for close to two years. Aleksandar shared, “On December 24, 2008, [Shantu] went on his knees and gave me a ring and asked me if I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him [Aww!]. We always wanted to do something special. We had thought about renting a castle and inviting lots of friends and partying three days in a row, or something similar. Then we saw the ‘Love is in the Air’ campaign on the internet and we thought: that’s special!”
Ewa and Gosia, who reside in Warsaw, have been together for six years. They said that they would have gotten married already if Poland allowed gay marriage. Ewa said however that they’ve received a lot of support from Poland. “One of the highlights of the entire experience was when we received a message from some amazing Polish leaders – these four women who are real heroes in Poland. They’re feminists, they’re fighters. And they wrote to us saying that what we’re doing in this contest is really important for the fight for LGBT rights in Poland. It was fantastic,” she said.
The celebrations didn’t stop when the flight landed in New York. There was a reception for the couples yesterday night held at the Ramscale Loft, and they let their hair down and boogied!
Designer Efva Attling, who gifted the couples with their wedding rings, showed up at the reception in New York and she also had some advice to dish out to the newlyweds. “Respect each other, and you need a lot of humor. Be sure to forgive and forget, but most of all, remember that love conquers all. I’m sure of that,” she said.
Besides the two European couples who flew into New York from Stockholm, there was an American gay couple who won the chance to get married on an SAS flight as well. Except they’ll be doing it in reverse – they’re flying from New York to Stockholm!
Thomas Landreth and Brett Kessler, both from North Carolina, won SAS’s VisitSweden love competition and they are heading to the IceHotel in northern Sweden for their commitment ceremony. Till death (by freezing) do us part indeed!
Thomas and Brett both come from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and they credit support from the school community for their victory in the competition. “[UNC - Chapel Hill] has the oldest college LGBTQ publication that is still around, so they have a history of supporting LGBTQ causes. We kinda put the word out among our friends. Then, it got to the school papers, and it just spread like wildfire. We have support coming left and right,” Brett said
Brett shared that this trip will be only his second time out of the country. “It’ll be nice to see Sweden, and it’ll be a story to bring back home for the family, that’s for sure,” he said.
And as for Aleksandar and Shantu and Ewa and Gosia, the couples are now enjoying their honeymoons here in the good ol’ US of A, in both New York and Los Angeles."(365gay)

Half way there :D

East Village

So many people asked me where is the best place for gays to live in... under my opinion probably East Village (Greenwich Village) in Manhattan New York City which is like a complete gay center to which i go to very often - many artistic stores and salons there - that is if you are living in the USA - i dont really know about Europe but from what i remember on my tour in Italy, there is a place in Rome near the colosseum called Gay Village i guess judging by its name it would be a great place - if you would like to suggest any other place that would be great for gays to live in, feel free to comment :)

Coming out tips?

so i have a few friends who want to come out but they dont know what peoples reaction would be and how to do it so i figured they are not the only ones with this problem so im putting up a few tips that i heard from others and that i made up based on my coming out experience:

1) Be patient - many people have the urge that u got to come out and it will eat u up if you dont. If you are not ready and you dont have a clue on what reaction you might get from the people you are coming out to then its best you keep it in and just take note on what the peoples point of view is and how they view homosexuality
2) if you have homophobic parents and are under the age of 18 or if you are financially unable to support yourself, the worst think you could do is come out to them. I know a kid who came out to his parents at age 14 and his parents had a very negative response to it. They made his life miserable, sending him to corrective camps which from what i have heard their methods are torturous on the human body and mind alike - they show you homosexual porn and if you get the slightest bit excited they give you painful shocks and do that everytime you like what you see so it does not make you straight but everytime you would get excited from looking or thinking of the same sex you would have that memory of that shock and the pain which really puts people down into themselves. Many go into depression and some even commit suicide after going to camps like these so yeah coming out to homophobic parents at young age isnt always the best thing to do
3) If you are not ready for the world to know but you have that one person or two people that u really want to know... just make sure that you can trust them and that they wont tell anyone because if 5 r more people know then within the next month or two you would most likely be completely outed and being outed by someone when your not ready yet really takes a toll on a persons spirit

Yeah so those were my 3 tips on coming out and i hope they would prove useful to many of my viewers who are still in the closet
